Paddleboard Fishing Tips

Fishing is an excellent sport that many people around the world enjoy on a yearly basis. There is nothing quite like going on a fishing adventure and landing that perfect catch. It is also interesting to note that there are many different ways to fish. You can fish from a boat, a canoe, a kayak, a pier, a wharf, or on the shore. However, have you ever considered fishing from a paddleboard?

This article will help you to understand a few of the more basic tips when fishing from a paddleboard like the guys over at http://bestfishingsup.org. The first and probably the most important tip is to consider how the wind can help or hinder you. When you think about the wind direction and strength in advance, then you can use it to your advantage. It does not matter whether you are fishing on a river, lake, or the ocean. The wind will always need to be a consideration.

If you do not consider the wind however then you will find that fishing from a paddleboard can be frustrating. Try to locate a spot where you can paddle out to and then use the wind to carry you along as you fish peacefully. There is no doubt that the wind will blow you here and there but if you use it to your advantage you will not only catch fish, but you will have a pleasant fishing adventure.

When paddleboard fishing, it is best to keep things simple. Use tackle that is easy to change and use fishing lures or flies that are standard for the area. For example, it would be difficult to do a ridiculous open looped cast while using a deep diving monstrous fly. Use small to midsize flies that are easy to throw.

Also, be aware that changing flies or lures is quite difficult on a sup. This is especially true if there are waves. Therefore, be prepared to use the same fly for quite a while. It also may mean that you will need to cover more ground to locate the type of fish that will be attracted to the fly that you select.

Yes, fishing is a great sport. Sup fishing will produce new challenges, but it will also produce exciting new adventures. Therefore, the next time you decide to go on a fishing adventure, consider going on making it a paddleboard adventure. You will not regret it.

Time to Go Fishing

Hello fisherman, we are still catching some nice fresh steelhead here on the Smith river; not seeing any down runners yet. We are taking bookings for the Smith river steelhead and we are also taking bookings for the upcoming striper season on the sacramen

We are currently fishing for spring salmon on the klamath river. It has been on the slow side, but will pick up any time. We have caught some nice bright salmon so far. We still have some open dates for June, so book your trip before the season is over. We are also taking bookings for the fall run of salmon and steelhead on the klamath river for August and September.

The Smith River is in perfect shape and we have been out fishing it with some long time clients.  There are still some big bright fish in the system.  The river is in perfect shape, light green and not low and clear just yet.  Give me a call to see if I have any openings as the fishing has been excellent.
